Foodie tour

The Foodie Tour

I may not be a morning person myself, but I'll admit that every time I wake up early and hit the town, I start considering becoming one. And let me tell you why...
Foodie Tour

... goes like this

fork

There is something about mornings in the Mediterranean. The noise, the colors on the green market, the vendors trying to get you to buy their produce, the senior citizens rushing to get the best fish at the fish market, the people already drinking coffee and planning their day… We simply call it “šušur”. There are no words that will do justice to this daily spectacle, so we’ll head to the center of activity so you can explore it for yourself.
We’ll meet at the city center and walk the path of the Romans. We’ll mingle with the locals and explore the old town while eating, drinking and sampling traditional local food. There’s no better way to feel the pulse of the city than to dive right into it – you’ll be the one communicating with the local vendors and sellers, discovering the differences between different types of olive oil, cheese or anchovies. I’m simply here to show you their little tricks and point out the best ones out there. Don’t blame me if you start loving the mornings, once you get a taste of the Dalmatian morning!

This colourful walking tour can be arranged all year round, Monday to Sunday any day of the week, except on Christmas & St. Stephen’s Day and New Year’s Day. The Cellars of Diocletian’s Palace are open for visits Monday to Sunday from 9AM – 4PM, except on bank holidays. During the summer and high tourist season the opening hours are more flexible, even on bank holidays. But these regular opening hours are more than enough for us. So, some practical information about the tour. Ideally it’ll start at 8PM but no later than 9:30AM, because later than that it just makes no sense. The green market and the fish market will be closed after 12:30PM and they are key elements to discover the “šušur”. Please put on your comfortable footwear because this is a proper walking tour. Do not worry, we will get a chance to sit down while we taste the food and rest for a while, but still – better safe than sorry. And now for the food. Our diet is all based on olive oil, seafood, meat, salt and wine. If you have any kind of food allergies, intolerance or preferences, please let me know when submitting your request so I can arrange for menu modifications.  Sometimes it can be quite challenging to cater for everybody’s taste and keep the menu authentic and local, but in most cases it’s not mission impossible. So, feel free contact me at my email address dalmatian.lifestyle@gmail.com with some basic information like the date of the tour and the group size and we will start arranging this tour immediately. Looking forward to hearing from you!
